Chinese pakoda is a popular Indo chinese street snack.Vegetables like carrot,cabbage,spring onions are mixed with the sauces and spices and then combined with all purpose flour and corn flour to make a thick batter.Portions of this batter is then deep fried in hot oil on medium flame.Optionally you can also add vegetables like capsicum and beans.I have added 2 tsp of suji to add crispiness to the pakodas.Serve these hot chinese pakoda with tomato ketchup or any other dip of your choice.
grated cabbage – 1/2 cup
grated carrot – 1/2 cup
spring onion greens – 1/3 cup,finely chopped
spring onion white – 1/4 cup,finely chopped
green chilli paste – 1 tsp
ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tsp
salt – 1/2 tsp
red chilli sauce – 1 tbsp
tomato sauce – 1 tbsp
soya sauce – 1 tbsp
vinegar – 1 tsp
suji/semolina – 2 tsp
corn flour – 3 tbsp
maida – 1/2 cup
baking soda – a pinch
oil – for deep frying the pakodas
- Firstly,add cabbage,carrot,spring onion white and greens,green chilli paste,ginger garlic paste,salt and all the sauces together in a mixing bowl.
- To this add 2 tsp of suji,3 tbsp of corn flour and 1/2 cup of maida and mix again.
- Finally add a pinch of cooking soda and mix well.Do not rest the batter after adding soda.Adding cooking soda is optional.If added,it makes the pakodas crisp from outside and soft inside.
- Deep fry the small portions of pakoda batter in hot oil on medium flame on all sides and serve them hot with tomato ketchup or any dip of your choice.

Add all the ingredients except oil and cooking soda into a mixing bowl.Mix them well.
Next,add a pinch of cooking soda.Adding soda is optional. Pinch small portions of the batter and leave them in hot oil.Deep fry the pakodas on all sides on medium flame.
