Ramadan recipe Egg Kabab is a popular Iftar snack.Boiled eggs are covered with mixture of boiled and mashed potatoes along with spices and cheese.Then they are deep fried in oil with a crispy bread crumbs as outer layer.Lets see how easy it is to make Egg kabab.Below comes the recipe along with step by step photos.
Ingredients : Boiled eggs - 2 or 3 Boiled potatoes - 4 oil - 2 tbsp + for deep frying cumin seeds - 1 tsp finely chopped onion -3 tbsp ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp green chilli - 1 tbsp turmeric powder -1/3 tsp roasted cumin powder - 1/2 tsp salt to taste coriander leaves-2 to 3 tbsp grated mozzarella cheese - 3 tbsp oregano - 1/2 tsp red chilli flakes -1/2 tsp beaten egg - 1 bread crumbs - 1 cup
Method with step by step photos:
In a pan heat up 2 tbsp of oil.
Once the oil is heated well,add 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
Next add 3 tbsp of finely chopped onion and saute it.
once the onion is fried well,add 1/2 tsp of ginger garlic paste and saute for 1 more minute until the raw smell of ginger and garlic is gone.
Next,add 1 tbsp of finely chopped green chilly and fry.You can adjust green chilli as per your spice preference,You can also add red chilli powder instead of green chilli.
Next add 4 boiled and peeled potatoes.Mash them with hand before adding to the pan.
Further, add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.
Add 1/2 tsp of roasted cumin powder.
Also,add salt as per your preference.
Mix everything together.Keep the flame medium.
Finally add 2 to 3 tbsp of finely chopped coriander leaves.
Mix again and turn off the flame.
Allow the potato mixture to cool.Once it is cooled,grate about 3 tbsp of mozzarella cheese and add.
Also add 1/2 tsp of oregano and 1/2 tsp red chilli flakes.
Mix it gently and pinch a big lime sized portion out of this prepared potato-cheese mixture.
Pat the ball on your palm as shown in the picture below.
Place a boiled on top of this pattie as shown below.
Cover the egg completely with the potato mixture and roll into an oval shape with fine surface.
Dip this ball inside a beaten egg ,coat it well with the egg.
Next,roll the ball on bread crumbs.
You can either deep fry these kabab balls immediately or store in refrigerator and take out just before frying them.
Fry them evenly on all sides until they get a even brown texture.
And our egg kababs are ready !
Serve them with any sauce of your choice.They taste good even without any sauce or dip.
