My daughter loves seafood especially the fish fry done in a typical coastal Karnataka style.POMFRET fish fry is one of her favorite. It is easy to make, where we simply marinate the fish with all the spices and coat with semolina.Semolina coated fish are then shallow fried in oil.I have already uploaded video recipe on this link: https://goo.gl/eDGGMS. Here comes the detailed text recipe with step by step photos.
- POMFRET fish – 2 (400 gms)
- Salt – 3/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Cumin powder – 1/4 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1/4 tsp
- Black pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Lime juice – 2 tsp
- Oil – 3 to 4 tsp for shallow frying
- Semolina – 1 cup for coating the fish
1.Take washed and cleaned Pomfret fish and make cuts/slits on them so that the marinade goes till deep inside the fish.
2.Add all the ingredients except oil and semolina and coat the fish with the spices really well.Make sure the spices get mixed well and are applied inside the cuts as well.Once they are coated well allow the fish to marinate for 30 minutes.
3.After 30 minutes heat up a tawa on stove and add 3 to 4 tsps of oil for shallow frying the fish.Spread a cup of semolina on a plate and coat the semolina on marinated fish as shown in the picture below.
4.Place the semolina coated fish on hot tawa and fry well on both sides in low flame by covering with a lid.Add more oil if required.
5.And our coastal style POMFRET Fish fry will be ready to serve 🙂
